Important information for PAN Applicant
Do's
- Do use the correct PAN form based on applicant category:
FN93, FN94, FN95, FN96 or PAN CR (Individual / Non-Individual), as applicable.
- FN93 – Individual (Citizen of India)
- FN94 – Entity incorporated / formed in India
- FN95 – Individual (Not a Citizen of India)
- FN96 – Entity incorporated / formed outside India
- PAN CR – Individual / Non-Individual – For change or correction in PAN data
- Do fill the application in BLOCK letters in English only.
- Do paste two recent colour photographs (4.5 cm × 3.5 cm) in case of Individual applicants, wherever applicable.
- Do provide signature within the signature box only.
- If left-hand thumb impression is used, do get it attested by a Magistrate or a Notary Public or a Gazetted Officer, under official seal and stamp.
- Do quote PAN correctly while submitting PAN Change/Correction (PAN CR) forms.
- Do provide correct AO Code, wherever applicable in the form.
- Do attach Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) & Proof of Date of Birth (PODOB) as prescribed under the Income-tax Rules, 2026.
- Do ensure PoI, PoA & PODOB contain the name exactly as mentioned in the application form.
- Do provide details of Representative Assessee / Authorized Representative (RA) wherever applicable under the Income-tax Act, 2025.
- Do provide PoI and PoA of the Representative Assessee / Authorized Representative, wherever RA details are furnished.
- Do provide PAN of the Representative Assessee. If PAN of RA is not available, Aadhaar number of RA is mandatory.
- Do write complete postal address with PIN / ZIP Code. For foreign addresses, Country and ZIP Code are mandatory.
- Do mention Mobile Number and Email ID of the PAN applicant – both are mandatory.
Don'ts
- Do not overwrite or make corrections in the application form.
- Do not pin, staple, or clip photographs on the form.
- Do not sign outside the signature box or across the form.
- Do not submit PoI or PoA that are not in the name of the applicant.
- Do not write additional details such as date, designation, rank, etc., along with the signature.
- Do not use abbreviations or initials in the name of the applicant or entity.
- Do not prefix titles such as Shri, Mr., Ms., Dr., M/s, etc., to the name.
- Do not enter future dates in Date of Birth / Incorporation / Formation fields.
- Do not leave mandatory fields blank, especially:
- PAN (for PAN CR forms)
- Aadhaar (where applicable)
- Mobile Number
- Email ID
- Communication Address
- Do not apply for a new PAN if PAN has already been allotted. For correction or reprint, use the PAN Change/Correction (PAN CR) form only.
- Do not furnish incorrect or misleading information, as it may attract penal consequences under the Income-tax Act, 2025.
